Warning of ongoing espionage campaign
CyberThunder warns that an espionage campaign related to the Russian special services is underway on the Internet. The main targets of the campaign are the ministries of foreign affairs and diplomatic missions of NATO and European Union countries. The aim of the campaign is to obtain information illegally. “It was thanks to the full cooperation between CERT Polska analysts and the Military Counterintelligence Service as well as entities monitoring the activity of cybercriminal groups sponsored by foreign countries that it was possible to discover this campaign…” says Krzysztof Jarzyna – President of CyberThunder company – “… this fact makes me even more happy because “specialists from our company were involved not only in the process of detecting the campaign itself, but also in analyzing samples of malware used by the attacker.” The CERT Polska team and the Military Counterintelligence Service published a report describing the threat actor’s activities as part of the discovered campaign. Specialists from CyberThunder recommend that all entities that may be in the area of interest of the threat actor implement mechanisms aimed at increasing the security of the IT systems used and increase the detection of attacks, as well as reading the reports of CERT Polska and SKW.
